The Snow Storm of the Season

There was so much hype about this week's snow storm that you would have thought that we would be buried under a couple feet of snow. Ahh.. no. We didn't get more than a few inches. We got a lot of rain so that iced over, but not nearly the amount of snow they were so hyped up about. It's just one of those years that we're not going to get any real snow.

A Little About Me Part 5

I have weaknesses. Over the past 5 months I have lost 30 pounds. That does not mean I am done losing nor have I given up all the things I like. In fact I am finding new things that I like and I am making better choices. It has not been easy and there are days that I have completely failed but I have not let that stop me. I have a goal and I intend to reach that goal. I am not a quiter. I just have weaknesses.

By the way these taste like smores. I suggest keeping them out of easy reach.

A Little About Me Part 4

I have pink hair. I started with a few pink highlights a few years ago and we just keep adding more pink. A couple years ago I made a promise to my friend's daughter that I would keep my hair pink until she was able to go home after she suffered a traumatic brain injury. When I was laid off I didn't want to go to job interviews with pink hair and I figured that once I found a job I'd ask if it was ok to go back to pink. Well I got the job and last week I got the ok to go pink. So Saturday I went to see Regi and I went back to pink. This is a classic case of if I can't do purple default to pink that I talked about the other day. We tried purple. It faded to gray! I have already found a few gray hairs I don't need to add them intentionally!

A Little Bit About Me Part 3

I love to cook. When we first got married I was not a very good cook. But as the years went on I've gotten better. I've learned new techniques and recipes. Tonight I tried my hand at making Big Bowl's Chicken Dumpling and Noodle Soup. It didn't turn out exactly like theirs but it was still good. I have a couple things to try for next time to make it better.

A Little Bit About Me Part 2

My favorite color is purple. However I can't always find the item I want in purple so my theory is, can't find purple, default to pink. Sometimes I just want to be girly and go pink. Today I needed some down time and not only did I get my hair re-pinked, I went for a pedicure. It felt good being pampered today.

A Little Bit About Me

I never really wore makeup. Not in high school, only on special occasions and of course that one summer when I had a crown on my head. But other than that I was not a makeup wearer. With my new job I decided to go for a more professional approach. That meant make up. So off to my local Clinque counter I went where I was loaded up with the must haves. After about 3 weeks of rushing around int the morning digging for my eyeliner I decided to get some organization going in my makeup drawer. $2 later at Target and Wa-La! Organized! Now my mornings go a little easier.

New Toys!

We've had a black and white laser printer forever. I think it is at least 15 years old. Lately I've been printing more, mostly for school. I printed a few assignments last week and they came out pretty bad. I went down, shook the toner cartridge and reprinted them. The printer's been working pretty good since then, but I know we're on borrowed time with it. I mentioned it to Troy and we started looking around online at printers. NewEgg.com had a solid ink color laser for a really good price. So today I came home from work and there was a sticker on the door. Oh no! The UPS guy didn't leave the package. I opened the door, looked at the slip and to my surprise there was a message that the package was around the corner. What an awesome UPS guy! Troy hauled it in and set it up. Now what do I want to print first?!

Vitamins

I recently started taking a multiple vitamin again. As a result my hair and nails have been growing like crazy.

The Lowery Avenue Bridge

A few years ago they closed down the Lowery Avenue bridge that connects North and Northeast Minneapolis. They eventually blew it up to destroy it to make room for a new one. Everyday for a couple years I drove past it wondering, "when are they going to start building the new one?" Well I recently started driving that way again and realized the other day that they've got some of the structure up! It almost seems weird now seeing something there besides fences and barriers. It should look nice when it's done. Hopefully that's soon!

Snow!

I LOVE snow! Love it! Especially at Christmas time! To me it's not really winter unless you have snow. So to say I was disappointed this past Christmas without snow was an understatement. So today I am happy to see snow. I may not be saying that as I'm driving into work in the morning but for now I like it!

Friends?

We had the hardest time getting Bear to like Isaboo when we first got her. Now he still has some moments but he does like his little sister.

What happened to service and quality?

For Valentine's Day Troy bought me flowers from Proflowers. Normally we get great flowers that last a couple of weeks. The day after Valentine's Day they were drooping so I called and today I received my replacements. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Two of the flowers were snapped off the stems and they all looked beat up and bruised. I called again. At first the guy was helpful and cheery all set to send me more replacements. Until I said no, can we just get a refund? Once I said that his tone changed and he became rude. Since when does expecting quality on the first purchase such a big deal? I gave them a second chance and the quality was worse. I wasn't going for "the third time's a charm."

I'll Help!

My goal tonight was to get my science homework done. That meant I had a free weekend! Yay!! I was in the bedroom working when I heard whining at the door. I opened it and no one was there. All of a sudden Isaboo came running from the living room and jumped up on the bed. Apparently she knows all about the Periodic Table and wants to help me.

Out of Practice

It's Shamas' birthday at work tomorrow so I decided that I was going to bake a cake. Apparently I'm out of practice because my lettering looks bad! Oh well! Nothing I can do about it now. On the plus side the Wilton whitener works great and I found a new red dye that I love!

Boo in her own bed

I told the dogs it was time for bed. Usually at that point Bina and Bear run to their kennels and Boo jumps up on to our bed. The last couple of nights she's gone to her own bed. I'm not complaining, I like being able to stretch out. But sometimes it is kind of nice to have her cuddled up next to my legs and waiting for me to open my eyes in the morning to snuggle. Tonight I'll enjoy the stretching out I'll be able to do.

Happy Valentine's Day

There are some people who believe this is a made up holiday. While I don't believe you should limit expressing you love to just one day of the year I don't see anything wrong with using this day to show your loved ones just how much you do love them.

First Test!

I took my first test of the semester tonight. I didn't do as well as I could have done, but I didn't do that bad. I never was really good at tests. But, oh well! I only have 4 more tests until I'm done with school.

Treats

So the other day Troy came home from work and said, "Sam wants to know when you are sending treats again." At Christmas time I made cupcakes and cookies and sent them with Troy to work. I've been thinking for a couple weeks now that I wanted to do something for Valentine's Day. But this time I have two offices I have to make for. Then, this past week I found out that one of the sales guys at work has a birthday coming up. So today I spent about 4-5 hours baking and decorating. I don't know the exact time since I had to stop and make a run to Rosedale for a new beater blade for my mixer. The end result was, 12 white cake cupcakes from a box mix, 30 chocolate cupcakes from scratch, 2 8 inch round marble cakes, 1 8 inch round white cake, all of those from a box mix. 12 large heart cookies, 42 small heart cookies, and 2 batches of butter cream frosting from scratch. Thursday I'll put together the birthday cake to bring into work on Friday, but I had to get all the rest done so Troy can take his into work tomorrow. I hope everyone enjoys them!

My science lecture

Since my science class is all online my lecture is done via videos. I have no book to follow anything during the lecture. Thank goodness for the pause button so I can take notes!

So my science experiment this week is to measure the time it takes water from frozen to boiling in Celsius. The only thermometer I had is the meat thermometer. It served its purpose!

I've been doing homework for almost 3 hours. I moved my laptop off my lap and Isaboo climbed up. I thinks she needs some loves.

It's not what you think it is

So last year I kept hearing people talk about Pinterest. I kept saying that I wasn't going to do it. I avoided the site. Then last fall Lisa told me about a weight watcher's recipe she found on Pinterest. I was hooked.

I started reading the House of Night series when Tanya sent me book one a few years ago. I got hooked. I don't have much time to read anything not school related but these are usually quick, easy reads so hopefully I can squeeze it in.

Winter Mornings

This morning I slept in. I've been really tired this past week, I think the lack of sleep from last weekend stuck with me all week long. Plus I think I am fighting the viruses that everyone else seems to be coming down with. So, when Troy got up this morning he closed the bedroom door so I could sleep and the dogs wouldn't come and wake me up. I woke up around 10:30 and finally rolled out of be around 11:15. I decided I was going to run and get some coffee instead of making it. Sometimes it just tastes better when someone else makes it. While I was driving I was noticing how pretty the trees looked. It's been so foggy lately that I think it was the fog that froze on the trees. I pulled over on a side street over by the Spring Lake Park Caribou to take some pictures, I'm sure the people who lived in the area thought I was stalking them, but really I just wanted some pictures!

Drama Queen

Isaboo has been a drama queen since the day we brought her home. This morning she was being mopey and hanging on me. Tonight while we were eating dinner she plopped herself down on the floor and rolled around until she was up against the couch. Then she laid there until she had our attention. After that she got up again. Little Miss Drama!

Please Momma?

The past few nights I have been too tired to deal with having a dog in the bed. Bear decided it was bed time so he and Sabrina went to their kennels. Isaboo jumped up on my bed and laid down. Looks like she's sleeping there tonight.
